3/1/1971Queen Elizabeth I granted its Royal Charter to the 218 Knights and merchants of the City of London who formed the East India Company. The venture failed to achieve its stated objectives -- it made little impression on the Dutch control of the spice trade and could not establish a lasting outpost in the East Indies.
1/1/1948India raised voice against Pakistani infilatration in the country. A complaint was lodged in the Security Council of United Nation on Kashmir invasion.
1/23/1992India becomes ASEAN dialogue partner.
9/16/1931Political prisoners Tarkeshwar Dutta and Santosh Mitra were shot by an officer at Hijli detention camp near Kharagpur. They were arrested for attending the Hijli meeting.

11/17/1932The Third Round Table Conference began in London. It was not attended by the Congress as the real Indian participation in the making of the constitution was negligible. Since Gandhi was in prison because of his civil disobedience movement he could not attend it either. This conference ended on 24th November 1932 without achieving anything.
